Wrath of the Demon

Wrath of the Demon is a fantasy hack-and-slash action game developed by Abstrax and published by ReadySoft in 1991. The evil wizard Anthrax summons a Demon who unleashes a horde of monsters to destroy the kingdom. A brave stranger answers the king's call and begins his quest. Gameplay is divided into distinct styles: a horseback riding level with parallax scrolling where you jump obstacles, punch flying enemies, and collect potions; side-scrolling platforming on foot where you fight with a blade; and arena battles against multiple enemies. The music is composed by David Whittaker .

DOS

Released in early 1991, the DOS version was programmed by Nicolas Chapados and supports 256-color VGA graphics, over 3 megabytes of graphics data, 600 screens of action, over 1,400 frames of animation, and 15 levels of parallax scrolling . The game requires an AT 286 CPU, 640K RAM with 525K free, and a joystick . Sound card support is included for most popular sound cards. The DOS version was released on both 3.5" floppy disk and CD-ROM – the CD-ROM variant runs on Commodore CDTV as well . A copy protection system requiring manual lookup is present. A port for Macintosh was also announced but never released .
