BMX Racers

BMX Racers is a top-down racing game where you ride a bicycle through a park after your brakes suddenly fail. You cannot stop pedaling, so you must avoid all obstacles for as long as possible. The screen scrolls vertically as you ride along a winding path. Obstacles include moving cars, other bikers, oil patches, trees, fences, swimming pools, and a granny who throws her walking stick at your wheels. You can steer left and right, accelerate or slow down using forward/backward controls, and use ramps to jump for bonus points. There are no traditional levels—you simply survive as long as possible while your score increases. The game is controlled via joystick or keyboard.

ZX Spectrum

Released in 1984 by Mastertronic, catalogue number IS0007, with cover art by Mark Brady . This version sold 98,342 copies . The Spectrum version is based on the original Commodore 64 release, considered the weaker of the two C64 versions, yet unexpectedly became the most playable and enjoyable of all four platform releases . The track is wider than the C64 original, making the display less cramped and fixing the issue of cars driving on the grass . Single-colour graphics are more detailed than the C64 counterpart, with animated background elements including varied bushes, vehicles, and animals . Sound is limited to beeps and clicks, though the pedaling sound changes with speed . The game offers three lives instead of one, and supports Kempston and Sinclair joysticks . Randomised obstacle placement ensures no two games play the same, providing strong replayability .
