Earthworm Jim

Master System

Earthworm Jim is a run-and-gun platformer where an ordinary earthworm becomes a intergalactic hero after a cosmic suit falls from the sky. Navigate surreal levels using Jim's plasma gun and whip-like head to rescue Princess What's-Her-Name from evil forces. Battle outrageous bosses including Psy-Crow, Queen Slug-for-a-Butt, Evil the Cat, and Major Mucus. Between stages, race through "Andy Asteroids" mini-games dodging obstacles against Psy-Crow. Stylish humor, responsive controls, and imaginative level design make this game a cult classic.

Master System

Released in December 1996 exclusively in Brazil by Tec Toy, the Master System version is a direct port of the Game Gear game. Developed by Eurocom and published by Playmates Interactive Entertainment, this conversion contains only four levels—missing entire stages from console versions. Notably, the boss fight in "What the Heck?" is completely absent. The Master System's 8-bit hardware limitations severely restrict the experience compared to console originals, with reduced sprite detail and color constraints. Despite hardware compromises, the core platforming mechanics survive intact. This release represents the most obscure version—only available through Brazilian distributor Tec Toy. The stripped-down level design and technical limitations make it primarily of interest to completionists and regional collectors.
