Victory Road (also known as Ikari Warriors II) is a run-and-gun shooter and the sequel to Ikari Warriors . After rescuing General Kawasaki, heroes Paul and Vince are flying home when a storm hurls them thousands of years into the future . They land in a fantasy world where the villain Zang Zip has taken over, fighting through hordes of bizarre creatures . You begin armed with a gun and hand grenades, but can discover abandoned flame throwers which are much more powerful . Levels are filled with green gremlins, yellow crabs, winged man-beasts, and trolls—winged man-beasts are the most dangerous as they fly at random and shoot lava-bullets . At the end of each level awaits a Super Demon requiring multiple grenade blasts to destroy . Lava-bullets can be deflected by shooting at them, and lightning bolt symbols wipe out all demons on screen . The game features five levels total .
