Beyond Castle Wolfenstein

DOS

Beyond Castle Wolfenstein is a stealth action game set in World War II, the sequel to Castle Wolfenstein. You play an Allied agent who has escaped Castle Wolfenstein and must infiltrate Hitler's secret Berlin bunker, retrieve a bomb smuggled inside, plant it outside the Führer's conference room door, and escape. The game features a top-down view with characters seen upright. You must sneak past or silently eliminate stormtroopers using a dagger. Guards use a pass system—different for each floor—requiring you to show the correct pass or offer a bribe. Failure twice triggers a bunker-wide alarm. Dead bodies can be dragged to conceal them or block passages.

DOS

Released in 1984 or early 1985 by Muse Software for MS-DOS . This is a direct port of the Apple II and Commodore 64 versions, developed simultaneously by Silas Warner, Eric Ace, and Frank Svoboda III . The DOS version features the same top-down stealth gameplay as its predecessors, though with less sophisticated graphics and sound compared to the Commodore 64 version—audio is limited to basic PC speaker beeps rather than digitalized German speech . Controls are handled exclusively via keyboard, as DOS lacked standardized joystick support at the time. The game was distributed on 5.25-inch floppy disks and was among the early stealth titles available for IBM PC compatibles . This was the last Wolfenstein game released by Muse Software before the company filed for bankruptcy in 1987, predating id Software's Wolfenstein 3D revival by several years .
