Spaghetti Western Simulator

Commodore 64

Spaghetti Western Simulator is an action-packed arcade shooter set in the Wild West. You step into the boots of Clint Westband, the most feared bounty hunter in Texas. The gameplay sees Clint roaming through five renegade towns, each infested with bandits who pop out from doors and windows. The goal is to eliminate a set number of outlaws to clear the town and collect the bounty. Clint can run, jump, crouch, and fire his six-shooters in multiple directions, including diagonally. A strategic layer is added by innocent townsfolk who also appear in windows; shooting them costs energy and bounty. You must manage ammunition, energy, and money, collecting power-ups like dynamite, jackets, and food scattered along the streets.

Commodore 64

Released in 1990 by Zeppelin Games and developed by Cygnus Software, this budget title brought the spaghetti western theme to the C64. The game features pseudo-3D environments with horizontal scrolling, giving the dusty towns a sense of depth. The C64 version offers five distinct levels of increasing difficulty, though they share a similar visual style. While the game includes various items to discover—keys to open doors, crucifixes to vanquish ghosts—the frantic, reaction-based gameplay defines the experience. Upon release, the game received average-to-negative reviews in the British press, often citing frustrating difficulty and simplistic presentation; however, it found a more appreciative audience in Italy.
