Warlock - The Avenger

Warlock: The Avenger is a top-down action game and the third entry in the Druid series, published by Millennium Interactive in 1991 for Atari ST, Amiga, and Commodore 64 . You play as Saran, a wizard who must descend into eight trap-ridden dungeons of the evil lord Acamantor to free the kingdom of Belorn . Navigate mazes filled with monsters, hidden doors, invisible passages, and trapdoors. Collect treasures containing magical projectiles, keys, and health-restoring items. A unique feature is the ability to summon a clay golem – controllable by a second player in simultaneous co-op. As a bonus, an exclusive conversion of the original Druid is included on the disk.

Atari ST

Released in 1991, developed by Electralyte with ST Format providing a review in issue #22 . The graphics, while functional, were described as "extremely mediocre" with sprites not particularly well animated against bland backgrounds – though the chest screen is nicely drawn . Sound is limited to odd spot effects with no substantial in-game music . German magazine Power Play rated the Atari ST version 67% , while ST Format was much harsher, giving just 43% and describing it as "fine for a five minute blast but no good for serious gameplay" . Later retrospective reviews offered a more nuanced view: the game captures the joy of old-school maze exploration and constant combat, but the single-life restriction and brutal energy meter are frustrating . Hidden passageways are invisible, requiring players to hug walls . The inclusion of the original Druid is widely praised as a fantastic bonus .
