Pub Games

Pub Games is a multiplayer sports compilation developed by Dollarsoft and published by Alligata Software in 1986-1988. The game simulates a night at the British pub, collecting seven traditional bar games: Darts, Bar Billiards, Dominoes, Table Football (foosball), Pontoon (Blackjack), Poker, and Skittles. Two modes are available: Practice Mode lets you play any game in any order; "Full Pub Games Run" takes you through all seven events sequentially, with each game awarding £1 to the winner—the player with the most money at the end wins. Table Football is the only game supporting simultaneous two-player action; all others are turn-based "hot seat" affairs. A complete run takes approximately two hours.

Amstrad CPC

Released in 1987 by Alligata Software, programmed by "Nix" . The Amstrad CPC version features all seven pub games with the full tournament structure preserved. Graphics use the CPC's 16-color palette but are considered functional rather than impressive. The game supports two players in "hot seat" mode, with Table Football offering simultaneous action. A notable quirk: unlike the C64 and Spectrum versions, the CPC port does not allow player names to be entered—opponents are simply labeled "Player 1" and "Player 2" throughout . Loading times are substantial: the cassette version takes approximately 20 minutes to load fully . Controls can be configured for joystick or keyboard (cursor keys). Critical reception has been poor: CPC Game Reviews gave the game 6/10, and user scores average around 5.5/10 . CPC-Power does not even list a score for it. A functional but underwhelming compilation for Amstrad CPC owners.
