KnockOut!

KnockOut! is a boxing game published by Alligata Software in 1985 . Your aim is to become World Heavyweight Champion by first defeating Slugger Sam three times to earn the right to challenge Bald Bully . The game consists of 3 rounds of 1.5 minutes each . Each time you are hit, a block of stamina is lost . When only one stamina block remains, the next opponent punch results in a loss . Successful head blows and blows against a raised guard award arrow points, which must be accumulated to deliver a knockout punch . When these points reach their maximum, the final knockout blow can be made . Each time the opponent lands a punch, two arrow points are deducted . A two-player option is also available .

ZX Spectrum

Released in June 1985 by Alligata for the Spectrum 48K at £6.95 . The player controls the Italian Stallion in blue against Slugger Sam in red . If you knock out Sam three times, a code is awarded granting access to the continuation of the challenge in Knockout 2, facing Bald Bully . The game was later re-released by Americana at a budget price of £2.99 in May 1984 . The Spectrum version features the same stamina system and arrow point mechanics as other ports . A separate game titled 3D Knockout, also by Alligata, was released for the ZX Spectrum and MSX in 1985, featuring an isometric view .
