Lucky Luke is a platform-action game developed and published by Infogrames, released in 1997. Based on the famous Belgian comic series by Morris, the game follows the adventures of the fastest gun in the West as he attempts to arrest the four Dalton brothers—Joe, William, Jack, and Averell. Gameplay involves progressing through multiple levels where Lucky Luke must shoot enemies including bad cowboys, jailbreakers, and hostile Indians using his trusty revolver, while collecting items such as bullets, dynamite, and sheriff stars. The player can run, jump, duck, and climb across varied locations including forts, towns, jails, mines, a train, and a haunted saloon. Some levels end with boss battles against the Dalton brothers. Between main levels, arcade sequences involve chasing the Daltons on horseback or riding Jolly Jumper. The game uses a password system to resume progress.
SNES
Released in Europe on October 27, 1997 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The SNES version was developed and published by Infogrames. Gameplay is presented as a side-scrolling platformer that occasionally shifts to Z-axis movement. The violence is toned down—enemies are not lethally shot but instead have their weapons shot out of their hands. The SNES version received favorable reviews, with Super Power magazine awarding 91/100, calling it "balanced and entertaining." Controls allow Lucky Luke to shoot in nine directions and lay dynamite with adjustable timers (2-5 seconds). The level design incorporates minor puzzle elements such as finding keys, activating switches, and blasting passages. Unlike the DOS version, the SNES release includes MIDI music support.
