Radiant Silvergun is a vertically-scrolling shoot 'em up where fighter pilots battle through six stages across different time periods to defeat the mysterious Origin entity and save Earth from an apocalyptic future. The game features a revolutionary weapon system with six different shot types—straight shot, homing laser, and devastating spread shot among others—all available from the start without power-ups. Weapons level up through use, becoming more powerful as you score points and create color-based chains, emphasizing strategic weapon selection over reflexes. The game's innovative mechanics and exceptional level design redefined the shoot 'em up genre following years of stagnation.

Released in July 1998 by ESP, Treasure's first arcade game was masterfully adapted to Saturn architecture within two months of its arcade debut. The Saturn version features exclusive content including extensive story sequences with anime cutscenes created by Gonzo studio and Japanese narration, alongside additional bosses and slower upgrade progression in Saturn Mode. Graphically stunning with rotating 3D backgrounds using Mode 7-style distortion, detailed mechanical enemies, and screen-filling bosses that showcase the system's capabilities. Composer Hitoshi Sakimoto delivers memorable music identical to the arcade. With six intricate stages, brilliant visual design, and remarkable technical achievement pushing Saturn hardware to its limits, this remains one of the platform's finest shooters and one of the rarest, most sought-after Saturn games ever released.
