MediEvil 2 is an action-adventure game developed by SCE Cambridge Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation, released in North America on May 9, 2000. Taking place 500 years after the original, Sir Daniel Fortesque—a skeletal warrior—is resurrected in Victorian-era London. Wealthy industrialist Lord Palethorn has discovered a spellbook, using it to raise the dead. Dan must recover the book's scattered pages and stop Palethorn's plans. Gameplay retains hack-and-slash combat while introducing firearms such as pistols, shotguns, and a portable Gatling gun. Players can now equip two weapons simultaneously. The "Dan-hand" ability allows Dan to detach his head and place it on scuttling hands to access tiny passages. Life fountains permanently dry up after use, increasing difficulty.

Released in mid-2000, MediEvil 2 received generally positive reviews, holding a 79% aggregate score. Critics praised the rich, detailed graphics and smooth framerates, calling the visuals "eye candy" that pushed PS1 hardware. The game won "Best Console Game" at the 2000 BAFTA Interactive Awards. However, the camera system was described as "atrocious," with fixed positioning making platforming frustrating, especially during jumps. Level layout was confusing, with players often left without direction. Difficulty was polarizing: some noted the game was too easy, while others pointed to frustrating spikes, including fall damage and permanently disappearing life fountains. For action-adventure fans, MediEvil 2 offers a charming, humorous experience, but its camera issues and uneven difficulty make it less essential than its predecessor. A digital re-release became available for PS4 and PS5 in 2025.
