Released in North America on August 14, 2000, and in Europe on October 6, 2000. Critical reception was highly favorable. Reviewers praised the deep Franchise mode, excellent AI where teams play true to their real-life styles, and massive replay value from the Madden Challenges. The exclusive Great Games mode was lauded for allowing players to recreate historic NFL moments. The game uses the same 3D engine as its predecessor, with textured polygon graphics, authentic uniforms and stadiums, plus extras like weather effects. While not as visually advanced as the PlayStation 2 version, this remains a deep, feature-rich football sim – the best 32-bit football game available and highly recommended for NFL fans on the platform.
