Jim Power in Mutant Planet is a sci-fi action platformer where you play as Jim Power, chief of the Special Warfare Unit. Your mission is to rescue President Halley's daughter from the evil Vulkhor on the dangerous Mutant Planet. Battle mutants, zombies, dragons, and exotic creatures across multiple level types—platform sections, shoot-em-up stages, and intense boss battles. Collect keys to unlock secret passages, grab power-ups like shields and weapon upgrades, and deploy smart bombs to clear the screen of enemies.

Released in March 1993 exclusively in Japan by publisher Micro World, this CD version is essentially identical to the Amiga original, preserving the challenging gameplay and controls. The standout feature is a spectacular 6-minute CGI intro that beautifully details the story, a luxury only a CD-based console could provide. Chris Hülsbeck returned to arrange the entire soundtrack in redbook CD audio, creating the highest quality version of his legendary score ever released. The stunning orchestral arrangements elevate the experience considerably, making this version worth tracking down purely for the magnificent music. Despite the excellent audio presentation, the core gameplay remains faithful to the original with all its quirks—punishing difficulty, demanding precision platforming, and those awkward shoot-em-up sequences.
