Bomberman '93 is a maze action-puzzle game in Hudson Soft's legendary series. The story begins when Black Bomberman attacks the city, stealing the seven circuits that provided electricity and scattering them across different planets. The city is completely powered down and gripped by fear. You control White Bomberman on a mission to recover the seven lost circuits and restore power across seven themed worlds. Each world contains eight levels, with the eighth stage featuring a boss battle. Your goal is to destroy all enemies in each maze-like level by strategically placing bombs that explode in a cross shape. Power-ups hidden under soft blocks grant abilities such as increased blast radius, more bombs, the ability to kick bombs, and remote detonation. For the first time, levels feature interactive elements including conveyor belts and teleporters. Up to five players can compete in battle mode, with skull power-ups introducing random negative effects.

Released in Japan on December 11, 1992, and in North America for the TurboGrafx-16 in March 1993, Bomberman '93 was published by Hudson Soft as a HuCard. The music by Jun Chikuma delivers one of the best MIDI soundtracks heard on the system. Graphics feature bright, crisp colors with animated playfields and detailed cutscenes. The game introduces a password system for continuing progress. Electronic Gaming Monthly awarded it Best TurboGrafx-16 Game of 1993, praising the addictive five-player battles as the definitive Bomberman experience. GamePro noted that while the single-player mode felt familiar, the chaotic multiplayer alone justified the purchase, calling it "explosive fun that never gets old." The battle mode supports five players using the multitap accessory.
