Released in Japan on December 7, 2000, in North America on May 7, 2001, and in Europe on November 16, 2001. Mario Party 3 was the final first-party Nintendo 64 game released in North America. Critical reception was mixed to average. Some critics praised it as one of the best party games on the system with the best minigames in the series. IGN later listed it as the best Mario Party game ever made. However, other reviewers criticized the game for largely reusing the same gameplay as its predecessors with minimal changes. Playing against CPU opponents was described as frustrating. Graphics were similar to previous games with low-resolution textures. Despite mixed reviews, the game sold over one million copies. A divisive but beloved finale – highly recommended for multiplayer sessions with friends.
