Wolfchild is a classic action-platformer that follows the story of Saul Corymer, the son of a kidnapped genetic researcher. To rescue his father from the evil Chimera organization, Saul uses his father's experimental technology to transform into a powerful wolf-human hybrid. The gameplay is split between Saul’s human form and his much stronger werewolf state, which is triggered by collecting "vitality" orbs. As a wolf, Saul can fire energy bolts and possesses increased strength to battle through five massive, multi-scrolled levels ranging from mysterious jungles to high-tech secret bases. The game is celebrated for its fast-paced combat, secret areas, and impressive boss encounters.

Sega Master System

Released in 1993 and developed by Core Design, this 8-bit port is a technical achievement that translates the 16-bit experience surprisingly well. Despite the hardware limitations, it retains the core mechanic of Saul’s transformation into a werewolf. The graphics are vibrant, utilizing a bright color palette that makes the jungle and laboratory stages pop on the screen. While some background detail and the number of simultaneous enemies were reduced compared to the Amiga original, the sprite work remains large and well-animated. The Master System version is often praised for its tight controls and fair difficulty curve, making it one of the more polished action-platformers in the console’s late-lifecycle library. It stands as a testament to how well a complex computer game could be scaled down for Sega's 8-bit hardware.
