World Class Leader Board is a golf simulation and the final entry in Access Software's acclaimed Leader Board series . You compete across four 18-hole courses: Cypress Creek, Doral Country Club, St Andrews, and the fictional Gauntlet Country Club . Gameplay is viewed from a first-person perspective behind the ball, with a power meter controlling shot strength and timing . Features include an overhead course overview map, the punch shot, a printable scorecard, and a course editor allowing modifications to existing courses . RealSound technology provides digitized speech and realistic audio effects, including applause and commentary phrases like "No doubt about it! That's deep in the sand trap!" . Three difficulty levels are available, and up to four players can compete in hotseat mode .

Master System

Released in 1991 by U.S. Gold (published in North America by Access Software), developed by Tiertex on a 2-megabit cartridge . This version retains all four courses from the original, with enhanced graphics featuring detailed reconstructions of trees, bushes, lakes, and sand bunkers . The game includes digitized speech, realistic sound effects, and a practice range for honing putting and driving skills . It was originally planned for release a year earlier but was delayed . Contemporary reviews were very positive: Mean Machines awarded 92% , Computer & Video Games gave 90% , Hobby Consolas rated 88% , and Raze magazine awarded 84%, calling it "a perfect translation of the original World Class Leaderboard" with "outstanding digitised speech" and "heavy detail on the courses" . Up to four players can compete in stroke play tournaments .
