Zero Gunner 2 is a 3D multidirectional shooter putting players in control of an advanced attack helicopter fighting a global threat. Developed by Psikyo as a sequel to the original arcade game, it was released for the Sega Dreamcast in Japan on September 6, 2001. The game offers a choice of three helicopters—Comanche, Apache, and Hokum—each with distinct firing patterns and special weapons. Players battle through seven stages, each ending with a multi-form boss that transforms into a giant robot. A unique feature is the ability to rotate the helicopter 360 degrees, allowing fire in any direction, essential for survival as enemies attack from all sides. The game includes nine difficulty modes, from "Child" to "Very Hard," and a rank system that adjusts challenge based on performance.

The Dreamcast version of Zero Gunner 2 is considered one of the best shoot 'em ups on the console and a sought-after cult classic. Its strength lies in the 360-degree rotation mechanism, which adds depth and strategy, requiring players to master positioning to survive enemy patterns. Graphically, the game features appealing rendered sprites, detailed landscapes, and big explosions, all running without slowdown. The soundtrack, however, is considered a weak point, with unmemorable music, though sound effects are highly regarded. The game is accessible to casual players, starting relatively easy and being shorter than peers, but offers significant challenge to veterans through higher difficulties and a second loop. Upon release, Famitsu magazine scored the Dreamcast version 30 out of 40. Released exclusively in Japan, Zero Gunner 2 has become a highly sought-after import title for Dreamcast collectors.
