Aqua GT

Dreamcast

Aqua GT is a powerboat racing game taking players through the canals of major European cities at high speed. Developed by East Point Software and published by Take-Two Interactive, it was released exclusively in Europe for the Sega Dreamcast on December 22, 2000. Players choose from five initial boats, with 15 more unlockable, each varying in speed and handling. The game features three modes: Championship, Arcade time-trial, and two-player split-screen. Tracks are set in the waterways of London, Paris, Venice, and Amsterdam, featuring dynamic tide conditions and day/night settings. With over 50 races, Aqua GT aims to deliver a diverse but ultimately repetitive experience.

Dreamcast

The Dreamcast version received mixed to negative reviews. Official Dreamcast Magazine awarded 3/10, describing it as "very repetitive" with "no replay value," lamenting the absence of crash damage and decent graphics. Conversely, Dreamcast Magazine found "enough challenge and enjoyment to make it grippingly compulsive," though criticizing unrealistic water rendering and boat physics. The game was unfavorably compared to Hydro Thunder, which offered a superior experience. Despite criticisms, some players found the handling decent once adapted, and split-screen multiplayer provided modest enjoyment. While Aqua GT has become a rare curiosity for Dreamcast collectors due to its PAL-exclusive release, it is often remembered as a flawed entry in the console's racing library.
