Stocker is a top-down stock car racing game originally released in arcades in 1984 by Bally Sente. You drive a fuel-injected V-8 street machine on a non-stop 5,000-mile race from Florida to sunny California, racing against the clock. The gameplay involves navigating highways, by-ways, and backroads while avoiding slow-moving cars and trucks, managing your fuel at gas stations, and evading police pursuit. Earn three speeding tickets and you are out of the race. The arcade cabinet famously appeared in Martin Scorsese's 1986 film "The Color of Money". The title refers to the stock car, a type of racing vehicle similar to standard road cars.

DOS

Released in 1988 by Capcom USA, published by Micro Talent for IBM PC compatibles . This version supports EGA and CGA graphics, with the higher-resolution EGA mode providing a cleaner visual experience compared to the Commodore 64 port . Unlike the arcade's steering wheel, the DOS version uses keyboard controls with a two-key steering system that rotates the car clockwise and counterclockwise . The core gameplay remains intact: avoid traffic, outrun police, and manage fuel consumption across the cross-country route. The PC port was developed alongside the Commodore 64 version, with both sharing similar design constraints imposed by home computer hardware of the era . While the arcade original featured smooth scrolling and detailed sprites, the DOS adaptation required compromises in animation fluidity due to early PC graphics limitations. The game runs on IBM XT 8088/8086 class machines .
