Chase H.Q. II: Special Criminal Investigation is a vehicular combat racing game and the sequel to Taito's arcade hit Chase H.Q. You play as a police officer tasked with rescuing three kidnapped girls, including the mayor's daughter. Your weapon is a heavily modified car equipped with a V6 DOHC 3000CC Twin Turbo engine, nitro boosts, and a gun attached to the steering wheel. The goal is to track down five suspect vehicles, ram and shoot them until their damage meter reaches 100%, then arrest them. New features include two-way traffic, enemy vehicles that shoot back, grenade-dropping helicopters, and motorcyclists who throw grenades at your car.

Commodore 64

Released in late 1990 by Ocean Software, developed by Probe Software (famous for Turbo Outrun) and published on cartridge . The C64 version received outstanding critical acclaim: Zzap!64 awarded 93% and a Sizzler, Commodore Format gave 74%, and CVG rated it 79% . Graphics score 95% in Zzap!, featuring colourful sprites, smooth scrolling, and impressive speed considered among the fastest racing games on the platform . The game preserves all six levels including the truck and helicopter boss fights. However, criticisms include messy handling with a tendency to slide off the road, controls that become hectic with turbo usage, and the shooting mechanic adding complexity without significantly improving gameplay . The cartridge format eliminates loading times, and the game benefits from using the Cheetah stick's extra fire button for boost. Some reviewers consider the in-game music too jolly for the subject matter . Overall, a massive improvement over the dire first Chase H.Q. conversion, but opinions remain divided on long-term playability .
