Turbo Boat Simulator (also known as Turbo Road in Spain) is a horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up published in 1988 by Silverbird, the budget label of Telecomsoft . Despite the "Simulator" suffix—a marketing gimmick imitating Codemasters' naming conventions—the game is pure arcade action, not a simulation . You pilot a powerful speedboat deep behind enemy lines, navigating a series of irregular canals viewed from a top-down perspective . Your goal in each level is to collect all pieces of a map dropped by allied aircraft . The boat can move at two speeds, stop completely, and fire double shots from the bow. Ramps allow jumps to clear obstacles. Enemies include indestructible shore cannons, mines, missiles, helicopters, and submarines that surface to launch torpedoes . Collisions with banks or mines cost an instant life, while enemy fire depletes energy .

Released in 1988 by Silverbird on cassette and later reissued by Prism Leisure on disk . Developed by Probe Software and Mind's Eye Software, with programming by Jim Gardner and contributions from Julian Wood and J. Dave Rogers . The action features free horizontal scrolling in both directions, with scrolling continuing even when the boat stops. The waterways are filled with mounds and blockades reminiscent of Spy Hunter . Contemporary publication Zzap! magazine mistakenly credited the game to Codemasters due to its title . The game supports joystick or keyboard and is single-player only.
