Storm Warrior is a fantasy action game that casts you as a prince on a quest to break a witch's curse. The evil Witch Queen has summoned a terrible thunderstorm over the kingdom, destined to last one hundred years, bringing floods and destruction. Armed only with a sword, your mission is to find her castle, defeat her undead guards, and destroy the Sacred Skull to restore peace. The quest spans five distinct levels. It begins with a gladiatorial clash against a winged demon, deflecting an energy sphere. Next is a sword fight with a barbarian, requiring precise strikes. You then journey toward the Island of Doom through a storm, avoiding Storm Birds. Upon arrival, you descend the Shaft of Darkness, dodging bats and falling rocks. The final level takes place in the Catacombs, a series of platforming challenges leading to the Chamber of Evils, where you use your light lance in a weightless environment to destroy the Sacred Skull.

Released in 1988 by Elite Systems, often under their Encore label, this version was developed by Chris Coupe, artist Paul Walker, and musician Mark Cooksey. A notable feature is the health indicator, represented by an animated Death figure moving across the screen as health depletes. While graphics were considered somewhat crude, the gameplay was praised for its variety and challenging action. Mark Cooksey's music was a standout element, often highlighted as a quality score. The game received a mixed reception from critics, with some magazines awarding scores around 44%, viewing it as an average beat-'em-up with few merits. Despite this, it offers a unique blend of action, platforming, and puzzle-solving that provides a stern test for retro gamers.
