Interphase is a cyberpunk action-puzzle game where you play Chad, a Dreamer who discovers The Dreamtrack Corporation is using recorded "DreamTracks" to destroy minds. He breaks into Dreamtrack HQ with his girlfriend Kaf-E: she physically infiltrates the building while he "jacks in" to cyberspace. The action alternates between a first-person 3D environment where Chad flies a virtual ship through polygon tunnels destroying security nodes, and a 2D zoomable blueprint where you guide Kaf-E past guards and traps. Puzzle-solving requires choosing which devices to disable in which order. Considered an early first-person shooter pre-dating Wolfenstein 3D.
Atari ST
Released in 1989 by Image Works, developed by The Assembly Line . The ST version features incredibly smooth 3D graphics for its era, reportedly running closer to 15-20fps when most games chugged at 3-5fps . Coded by Adrian Stephens with design by Dean Lester and Danny Emmett, and graphics by Mark Coleman . The game was later released as a coverdisk on ST Format magazine . The 3D polygon rendering was technically impressive, though some reviewers felt the cyberspace "blatting" gameplay lacked depth compared to the well-executed 2D planning sections . The ST version is the original release from which the Amiga version was converted . Requires 512KB RAM.
