Super Hang-On is a motorcycle racing arcade game where you race across four continents—Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe—each with increasing difficulty levels. Navigate the road from a behind-the-bike perspective, avoiding traffic and staying on course while managing gear changes to maintain optimal speed. Complete each section within strict time limits to progress further in your global motorcycle tour. Simple steering controls combined with strategic gear management create accessible yet challenging gameplay.
Atari ST
Released in 1988 by Electric Dreams with programming by ZZKJ, the Atari ST version proved critics wrong by delivering an excellent conversion. Playable with either joystick or mouse controls, Super Hang-On delivers superfast road courses with colorful, fast gameplay. Graphics are excellent with courses offering wonderful verticality and sweeping bends, while the YM2149 chip conveys the classic Super Hang-On tunes beautifully, making the music some of the finest in any game despite the Atari ST's limitations. Crashing causes delays rather than game-overs, and the time-trial format keeps players engaged across varied terrain. The ST version stands as a brilliant conversion, particularly compared to OutRun's weaker port, proving that ambitious arcade games could transition successfully to 16-bit home computers.
