Rampage

Atari ST

Rampage is an action arcade conversion inspired by monster films, putting you in control of one of three mutated humans: George (a King Kong-like gorilla), Lizzie (a Godzilla-like reptile), or Ralph (a giant wolfman). The goal is to tear through 150 levels across 50 fictional North American cities, reducing every skyscraper to rubble with your bare fists. You can climb buildings and punch out windows piece by piece, dodging helicopters, tanks, snipers, and even punches from rival monsters. Eating people, food, and certain items restores health, while toasters and televisions drain it. The game supports up to three players simultaneously, with two using joysticks and one using the keyboard.

Atari ST

Released in 1987 by Activision, this version was among the first licensed arcade conversions for the Atari ST platform . The ST port delivers a faithful reproduction of the arcade experience, leveraging the 16-bit Motorola 68000 processor to achieve smooth performance . Graphics retain the side-view fixed-screen presentation, with detailed monster sprites and recognizable building backdrops that capture the B-movie charm of the original . The game supports up to three simultaneous players, with the third using the keyboard or an additional joystick. While the music and sound effects are competent for the era, Retro magazine notes that the Amiga and Atari ST versions arrived relatively late (1989 for some territories) and struggled to stand out as 16-bit systems had already demonstrated greater graphical potential . Despite this, the ST conversion remains a solid and enjoyable port of the arcade classic.
