Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf is an arcade-style golf simulation developed and published by SNK, originally released for arcades in 1988 . Despite the combative title, no actual fighting is involved—the name is a playful nod to the competitive spirit of match play . You choose from four characters, each with unique strengths and weaknesses: Pretty Amy (excellent control and accuracy but limited power), Big Jumbo (massive driving distance but poor control), Super Mex (balanced all-around player based on legendary golfer Lee Trevino), and Miracle Chosuke (exceptional putting ability) . You can compete across two full 18-hole courses: an American course modeled after PGA West Stadium Course featuring bunkers and super rough, and a Japanese course with water hazards and tight boundaries . Game modes include Stroke Play and Practice mode, with up to two players alternating turns.
Arcade
The arcade original runs on SNK's Ikari Warriors hardware platform . The system features two Z80 processors operating at 4 MHz for game logic, plus an additional Z80 at 4 MHz dedicated to audio, driving two Yamaha YM3526 sound chips . The cabinet uses a horizontal raster monitor with standard resolution, JAMMA conversion class, and amplified mono sound . In Japan, Game Machine listed the game as the ninth most-successful table arcade unit of May 1988 . A variation titled Country Club was also released the same year, featuring trackball controls, modified graphics, and no golfer selection screen . The game was later parodied as "Lee Carvallo's Putting Challenge" in The Simpsons . The arcade original supports up to two competitive players on the same cabinet .
