Hobgoblin

Amstrad CPC

Hobgoblin is a platform action game published by Atlantis Software in 1991. You play as Zanock, the only son of the King of Altoris, who must cross the swamps of the hobgoblins to recover the stolen Golden Orb that has kept the kingdom safe. The game is widely regarded as a budget homage to Capcom's classic Ghosts 'n Goblins. You run, jump, and throw daggers at monsters in a spooky fantasy landscape. Defeated enemies drop money or weapon upgrades, including hatchets, more powerful daggers, longer range, or extra lives. The game is known for its high difficulty and uses a flip-screen technique rather than smooth scrolling.
