Fiendish Freddy's Big Top O' Fun is a comedic action game blending circus skills with cartoon slapstick. A corrupt banker, I.M. Tightwad, is about to seize your circus for a $10,000 debt unless you raise the cash. To ensure you fail, he sends the malicious clown Fiendish Freddy to sabotage your acts. Up to five players, represented by circus animals, compete in six events: High Diving (performing poses before landing in shrinking targets), Juggling (catching objects while Freddy throws bombs), Trapeze (swinging while Freddy cuts ropes), Knife Throwing (popping balloons around an assistant), Tightrope (balancing while Freddy attacks), and Human Cannonball (aiming your launch). The game ends with Freddy crushed if you succeed, or your circus demolished if you fail.
Amstrad CPC
Released in 1989 by Mindscape, developed by Gray Matter Inc. . The CPC version features colorful, vibrant graphics that capture the cartoonish circus atmosphere well within the platform's 4-color palette limits . The six events are fully preserved, along with the five-player mode and the practice option for each discipline. Controls are simple but effective, using joystick for movement and fire button for actions (poses during diving, catching during juggling, aiming during knife throw). The soundtrack includes bouncy circus-style melodies that enhance the carnival mood . A solid conversion that successfully translates the Amiga original's charm and party-game fun to 8-bit hardware, though the disk/cassette multi-load system requires patience between events . A cult classic, best enjoyed with multiple players.
