Arcticfox is a sci-fi tank simulation set in 2005 where aliens invade Antarctica to steal Earth's oxygen. You pilot the "Arcticfox" super tank on a solo mission to destroy the alien fortress. From a first-person 3D vector view, your tank has a cannon, guided missiles with an onboard camera view, and mines. Radar, compass, speedometer, oxygen meter, and forward/aft view-screens display vital data. Enemies include Recon Sleds, Light/Heavy Tanks, fighters, Recon Fliers, floating mines, and installations like Radar Stations and Oxygen Converters. As damage accumulates, systems like radar or cannon may fail. Weather includes blizzards and electric storms reducing visibility. Four difficulty levels are available.
Amstrad CPC
Released in 1988 by Electronic Arts, developed by Dynamix with the Amstrad conversion handled by The Zen Room (Mark Fisher and Ron De Santi) . The CPC version features smooth vector graphics with good use of colour to indicate different terrain types (snow, tundra, mudflats, mountains, crevasses) . Amstrad Action magazine awarded 81% overall, praising the "good variant on the Battlezone theme" with graphics scoring 74%, but criticising sound at only 17% (limited to explosion effects) . The game includes practice and tournament modes, with terrain affecting movement: tundra slows you, mudflats cause sliding, and crevasses are instant death . The radar screen at the bottom displays enemy positions and terrain types. A player review noted that once initial patrols are dispatched, the game becomes slightly tedious searching for remaining fortresses .
