Amstrad CPC

CORE (Cybernetic Organism Recovery Expedition) is a sci-fi action-platformer set in the asteroid belt. An evil alien contingent wipes out human colonies. Agent Andrew Angello investigates a distress call from asteroid EROC 1, where the central computer may still function. Recover bio-memory chips containing data on the alien attack plan. Explore four levels of caves beneath the asteroid's surface. Find a spade to dig, collect batteries to replenish backpack power (supplying air), and avoid alien booby traps. Navigate using anti-gravity lifts and teleport systems. Flick-screen (flip-screen) scrolling with a sidebar showing time, power level, and save icons.

Amstrad CPC

Released in 1986 by A&F Software, later re-released by Bug-Byte in 1987 at £1.99 . The Amstrad CPC version retains the four-level flick-screen structure and all gameplay mechanics—digging, battery collection, and teleport navigation. A physical copy is preserved at The Strong National Museum of Play as part of their video game collection . While specific contemporary reviews for the CPC port are scarce, the game shares the same critical reception as other versions, with reviewers noting the limitations of its monochrome-style graphics and basic sound design. The CPC version supports both joystick and keyboard input. A forgotten budget title that brought the alien excavation adventure to Amstrad owners, remembered more for its harsh critical reception than its gameplay merits.
