Gloom is a first-person science fiction shooter where you are a soldier armed with a plasma cannon, teleported to a ship infested with dangerous cultist warriors, transparent ghosts, and hostile creatures. Battle through multiple environments collecting weapon boosts and health items while finding the exit from each level. The game features selectable violence modes with "Meaty" or "Messy" graphics. Split-screen two-player co-op mode lets you fight alongside a friend, with the option to link two Amigas for multiplayer deathmatches.

Released in 1995 by Guildhall Leisure Services and developed by Black Magic Software, Gloom became the first commercially released Doom-style shooter for Amiga. Programmer Mark Sibly created an impressive texture-mapped 3D engine running smoothly on Amiga 1200. The One magazine awarded it 90% and CU Amiga gave 90%, praising the rock soundtrack and impressive graphics. The game emphasized frantic action with superb enemy sprites designed to stand out. Amiga Power ranked it the 18th greatest game ever, celebrating it as a groundbreaking technical achievement on the platform.
