Wonderland is an ambitious interactive fiction adventure based on Lewis Carroll's literary classic. Players take on the role of Alice, navigating a surreal landscape filled with illogical puzzles, wordplay, and iconic characters like the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. While it follows the spirit of the book, the game introduces its own unique locations and challenges that require sharp wit to solve. It blends traditional text-based gameplay with high-quality illustrations, allowing players to interact with the environment through a sophisticated parser. The goal is to understand the twisted logic of this magical realm and find a way back home through a series of increasingly bizarre and imaginative encounters.

Amiga

Released in 1991 by Virgin Games, the Amiga version of Wonderland is celebrated as the pinnacle of Magnetic Scrolls’ technical achievements. It famously debuted the "Magnetic Windows" system, a revolutionary interface that brought a desktop-like experience to the Amiga. This allowed players to move and resize multiple windows containing the map, inventory, text, and illustrations simultaneously—a massive leap forward for the genre. The Amiga port stands out for its atmospheric musical score and over 100 stunning high-resolution graphics, many of which feature subtle animations. It received critical acclaim, including a 96% rating from CU Amiga, for its accessibility and visual polish. Despite the game’s complexity, the point-and-click integration and automated mapping made it one of the most user-friendly adventures on the system.
