Super Cars II

Amiga

Super Cars II is a top-down racing game that blends arcade action with strategic weapon combat. You control a red (or green in two-player mode) car racing against up to 10 computer-controlled opponents across seven tracks on three difficulty levels. The gameplay involves not only racing but also purchasing weapons like front/rear missiles, homing missiles, and land mines, along with upgrades like armor and turbo boosts. Between races, you participate in interview sequences with characters like the police or journalists, where your answers can win or lose money and championship points.

Amiga

Released in 1991 by Gremlin Graphics, developed by Magnetic Fields with coding by Shaun Southern, graphics by Andrew Morris and Jeremy C. Smith, and music by Barry Leitch. This Amiga version introduced a split-screen two-player competitive mode, a significant addition over the original. The game received very positive reviews for its smooth scrolling, high sense of speed, and varied track designs featuring jumps, tunnels, bridges, and different terrain affecting handling. The two-player mode was particularly praised for maintaining fluid gameplay without noticeable slowdown, making it a favorite among racing fans on the platform.
