Xenomorph is a science-fiction role-playing adventure set in a derelict space station. In the year 2134, the cargo ship Mombassa Oak suffers a critical malfunction during a supply run to the mining platform Atargatis, near the star Sirius. The sole crew member awakens from cryosleep to find the ship crippled and the platform's 200-strong population vanished without a trace. He must manually dock with Atargatis and venture into its labyrinthine corridors to scavenge for microchips, fuel rods, and spare parts to repair his vessel. Gameplay unfolds in first-person with a real-time, icon-driven interface reminiscent of Dungeon Master. You must explore the complex while managing health, food, water, and radiation levels. Combat is unavoidable, requiring weapons like pistols, grenades, and mines against alien creatures. The game is heavily influenced by the Alien franchise, creating a tense atmosphere of solitude and survival.
Amiga
Released in 1990 by Pandora, programmed by David Neale with graphics by Terry Greer, the Amiga version was critically well-received. Computer & Video Games awarded a 90% score, praising the well-drawn aliens, addictiveness of exploration, and powerful atmosphere of isolation. Amiga Format gave 83%, commending the well-implemented 3D view and the variety and graphical quality of weapons and equipment. However, the game had notable criticisms: animation was somewhat jerky, and sound design was considered weak, lacking variety to create a convincing outer-space atmosphere. Critics also noted that meticulous map-drawing was essential for progress, as it was easy to become lost in the station's complex layout without careful note-taking.
