Bio Challenge

Amiga

Bio Challenge is a futuristic action-platformer set in a future where human gene code has weakened. Scientists build K.L.I.P.T., a human brain in a robotic body, as humanity's last hope. You must complete the "Bio Challenge"—a survival test across six levels, each with multiple planets connected by colour-coded transporters. Collect four amulet pieces per level by destroying floor-dwelling guardians—jump on charged platforms above them and somersault to drop blocks. Face a huge Guardian at each level's end; leap into the air to transform into a floating cannon with limited ammo. Coloured cauldrons grant bonuses: Yellow (extra time), Blue (extra life), Green/Red (armour), Grey (oil capacity). Oil acts as your "blood"—running out kills you.

Amiga

Released in 1989 on a single OCS floppy disk for one or two alternating players. Created by Paul Cuisset (code, later Flashback), Denis Mercier (graphics), and Jean Baudlot (music). Features parallax scrolling and Jean Baudlot's celebrated funky soundtrack with sampled speech. Received 85% from Zzap!, praised for "mind-numbingly good music" and "gorgeously-detailed parallax scrolling." Criticisms include lack of shooting action, repetitive gameplay, and tedious disk-loading. A unique, atmospheric platformer where tactics matter more than reflexes.
