Nebulus

Amiga

Nebulus is a vertically scrolling platform game where you play as Pogo, a small green creature on a mission to destroy eight mysterious towers rising from the sea. Climb each cylindrical tower studded with platforms, jumping over obstacles and dodging enemies to reach the peak and set off bombs. The tower rotates as you move horizontally, creating a revolutionary 3D effect that makes you feel as though you're circling around the structure in real-time.

Amiga

Released in 1988 by Hewson, the Amiga version features striking 32-color graphics with smooth animation and distinctive copper bar water effects showcasing the system's technical capabilities. The colorful palette and vibrant visual presentation set new standards for platformer aesthetics on Amiga. Programmer John M. Phillips created a technically impressive adaptation with excellent sprite work and fluid scrolling. The game's unique cylindrical tower design was revolutionary for its time, offering innovative gameplay that stood out from traditional side-scrollers. Nebulus became a cult classic, winning Best Original Game Of The Year at the Golden Joystick Awards and establishing itself as one of the most creative and technically accomplished platformers of the era.
