J.B. Harold - Blue Chicago Blues

3DO

J.B. Harold: Blue Chicago Blues is an interactive movie adventure and the fourth installment in the detective series. This time, the case is personal: J.B. Harold's fiancée, Detective Catherine White, has been killed in Chicago while investigating the murder of a woman in a red dress. The crime scene was made to look like a suicide, but J.B. knows it was murder. Arriving in Chicago, he partners with veteran detective Ted Rossen to unravel the mystery, uncovering connections between the two victims and an unsolved homicide from twenty years prior. Gameplay focuses on gathering clues and interrogating suspects. A real-time clock system adds urgency—certain actions take up time, and key events are only available at specific moments.

Released in Japan on November 22, 1995 by Riverhill Soft Inc., this 3DO version is the definitive home console port. Developed by Riverhill Soft, it features a full live-action cast including Richard A. Hench as J.B. Harold and Peter Dryden as Ted Rossen. The game utilizes the 3DO's video playback capabilities to deliver its cinematic mystery on two CD-ROMs. While the 3DO version received a Japanese dub with voice actors such as Daisuke Gōri, an English-language version exists only on the rare Pioneer LaserActive and certain Windows releases. This remains a unique and ambitious FMV title for the 3DO library, offering a complex narrative with multiple endings.
